In this self-paced, on-demand course, you’ll develop specific skills and insights into short story writing, including how to understand the shape of stories, and how to use language more creatively. As you progress through the course, you'll undertake a series of exercises to refine an early draft of a short story. Be prepared to ‘kill your darlings’ and to do lots of writing.

This course is appropriate for writers who have completed at least one short story draft, and who want to sharpen their creative writing skills through revision and redrafting.

Roanna Gonsalves

Roanna Gonsalves is the author of The Permanent Resident, published in India and South Asia as Sunita De Souza Goes To Sydney. The book won the NSW Premier’s Literary Award Multicultural Prize 2018. Roanna holds a PHD and has been teaching and supervising creative writing students. She is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Award and is co-founder co-editor of Southern Crossings.
